Jacinta Walton is a bright and energetic powerhouse and proud Noongar woman who joined The Kids in 2019 as an Administration Officer.

Her commitment to Aboriginal empowerment and positive outcomes in all areas of life for Aboriginal people, families and communities has been the driving force behind her success here at the Institute - enabling her to take up positions in Kulunga (the Institute’s Aboriginal Professional Support Unit) and now in the Healthy Skin Team as a Project Officer on the Koolungar Moorditj Healthy Skin project.

Jacinta will use the awarded STARS funds to complete a 12-week Introduction to Health Promotion course online through Curtin University, which will enable her to upskill in health promotion and ensure Aboriginal communities’ benefit from the research being conducted.

“This course will provide me with valuable knowledge on Health Promotion, an area I am interested in and passionate about,” Jacinta said.

I will be able to apply the skills and knowledge gained into my current role and combine the principles of health promotion and cultural knowledge to implement culturally appropriate and relevant strategies, resources and materials.

The support from our Staff giving program- Peers & Partners and the STARS donor community makes the STARS Capacity Building Fund such a success. Thank you to everyone that believes that Aboriginal child health research needs to have Aboriginal researchers at the forefront of impact for community.
