In 2011 Commissioner of Police Karl O'Callaghan (pictured) established Bright Blue The Police Commissioner's Fund for Sick Kids.
Since that time, Bright Blue has outfitted the Institute's brain tumour laboratory with a cancer analysis suite that has streamlined the processing of tumour tissue.
This has accelerated research into treatments and cures - so important given that brain cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in young people and accounts for more than one-third of cancer deaths in children aged under 10.
